*NEW* Og's Blog for Parents!

September 12, 2025
By Mr. Ogborne

PCS Parents,

We all probably remember back to when we were expecting our first child, the nervous trepidation, the fear of the unknown, the feelings of inadequacy, but also the joy and anticipation of seeing this new life that God has gifted us with.  Parenting is a tremendous blessing and at the same time a weighty responsibility. It is also a ton of fun filled with a lot of laughs. Did anyone else follow some terrible potty training tips?

Parenting might be the biggest process of sanctification that the Lord has given to us outside of marriage, so we are thankful for his promise to be with us in this work that he prepared for us beforehand. We also know that this commitment includes the gifting of the body of Christ to walk alongside us as a way to help, encourage and serve one another.

With this in mind, as well as the feedback from the parenting survey, I will be providing you with two resources:

A Monthly Parenting Blog
I will be sharing a blog designed to support you as parents in navigating this wonderful stewardship process.  I will seek to cover relevant topics designed to help you right now in the midst of your parenting journey. I have some topics that I plan to cover (our role as parents, identity, family worship) but I would love to hear from you, so please feel free to email me with your thoughts!

A Parenting Q & A Blog
Here is where I will need your help!  Your job will be to write in with those burning questions about parenting or parenting-related topics that you have been waiting to unload on someone.  They could also be questions “from a friend” or even questions that your kids may have.  Sometimes kids have the best questions!  I will take a few of these questions at a time, seek the Scriptures for direction and then provide you with some biblically-based thoughts.  My plan is to post this monthly, but it will really depend on how many questions I receive.

Please send any questions and parenting topics to - nogborne@pickeringcs.on.ca.

I’m looking forward to this journey together!

In additional, don't forget about the content that Mr. Park mentioned a few weeks ago from Paul Trip - Free 3-Session Teaching Curriculum on Raising Children in a Tech Age from Paul Tripp.  I highly recommend that you check this out!

We also want to highlight another great resource: Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a Gospel Parenting Conference by Paul Tripp on Saturday, September 20th from 9:00am - 2:30pm.

I’ve attended several of his conferences and watched a number of his video series, and I can assure you these are opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Check out the Paul Tripp Website for many other helpful resources for your parenting journey.
