Wow, it seems like summer just started and here we are counting down the days to the start of school.It has been a very busy summer here at the school and we wanted to take the time to introduce you to a new section/article that we hope to feature on a monthly basis. It is called HUH, or Have you Heard. That is right, PCS is now using Internet chat acronyms, but only because it is catchy, not because it is grammatically correct. Have you Heard is an article that will focus on little known plans, facts, or even questions that seem to be hanging out there in our community. That being said, if you have questions please feel free to send Mr.O an email and each month we will endeavour to cover off different aspects.
So with that intro, on to tackling a few current issues.

 Each year as a school we take the time to review the different ways in which we can continue to enhance the curriculum here at PCS. Over the last couple of years we have taken a long hard look at the growing area of online curriculum. What we have found is that there are many different offerings out there but it is important to find the ones that really do it right. Two products that we have found are Study Island & Rosetta Stone. |

With all the ongoing upgrades, renovations, class relocations, etc; one of the great residual effects of this summer's projects is that we are able to bring back our library. When we made the decision to bring the Arrowsmith program in last year, we had to make a temporary decision to shut down the library due to space constraints. Now, with our renovations going on in the house next door slated for our music department, and Arrowsmith moving to a larger space in the old music room, the library is now able to move back into the resource room.

 In our desire to always be building a caring and supportive environment for the students here at PCS, the staff this year will be participating in a four day training program called TRIBES. You are probably asking yourself, "What is Tribes training anyway?"

On Tuesday, June 8, 2010, the Junior Softball Team competed in the ACSI Tournament at the Sportsplex Fields in Ajax. Our team placed 2nd overall!!! Awesome job! A very special thank you to all the parent volunteers who drove and cheered on the players. Thank you to Mrs. Edlehofer for coaching the team. |
