On Thursday, December 3rd, Grade 2 students had a chance to experience the winter traditions of the early settlers who first lived in the Pickering area. Students visited the historic Pickering Museum Village ( http://www.picnet.org/pmv ) and visited various homes to experience a Scottish "hogmenay" (New Year's celebration), make a Welsh "calenig" (an apple with cloves and cedar branches), and taste delicious treats from English Christmas traditions. The children had a wonderful time and learned many new things. Thanks to Mr. Minion and Ms. Veltri for joining us on the trip.
