Leadership Development

mini01Camp Mini-Yo-We is the kick-off point for the Grade 8 leadership development program.  Set in the heart of the Muskokas, on the shores of Mary Lake, this camp provides a perfect setting to introduce and develop the concept of leadership to the students.

Activities are designed to challenge students to push themselves and find out their talents within various team building scenarios.  Events include rock climbing, zip lines, giant swing, mountain biking, co-operative games, wilderness survival and evening challenges put on by the staff. A two day ‘Amazing Race’ style event assists students in understanding teamwork and role potentials.

Ultimately it is through this beginning time that students are encouraged to step up and make a positive difference at PCS.   Throughout the year, students are put in charge of various school activities where they can continue to fine tune their skills.  Some of the activities allow them to raise funds which will be put toward their annual graduation trip to Florida.

Leadership is about influencing others. It is PCS’ goal to instill valuable lessons into each student that will guide them through their time at this school and as they become engaged in the local high schools.
