Each year PCS develops a theme that will enhance the goal of having students see the world as Christ would view it. Originally developed by the staff, more and more themes are being used that are student generated. The theme is emphasized over the year in activities and assemblies. It is kicked off by a week of activities in September (September 26 - 30) and culminates in our annual Walk-a-thon. Activities include acts of service, crafts, edible theme related items and extra games in the gym.
2011 - 2012 Running After Christ’s Example - R. A. C. E.
This year’s theme is based on Hebrews 12:1-2a
“Therefore since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith…”
It is our desire this year to draw students closer to Jesus Christ by focusing on his character and actions. By using the RACE theme students will be challenged on how to prepare for a race, understanding the course, how to run a race, and how to finish well. The scripture reminds us that as we race, we must fix our eyes on Jesus who gives us purpose and direction. By following his example we will complete our race in a manner worthy of his name.
